Andrea Causio

Andrea Causio is a software and machine-learning engineer and researcher with a track record in the medical space.

He is a computer science master’s student at the University of Pennsylvania and a Widjaja Engineering Entrepreneurship Fellow, and most recently worked as a software engineer at Superscript in New York. His research on medical AI — including EuropeMedQA, a large European benchmark for medical question answering — received the Best Presentation Award at NeurIPS 2025.

Trained as a physician in Rome, he holds a medical degree and a specialization in preventive medicine, has published more than 70 peer-reviewed papers, and has advised the World Health Organization and the European Commission on digital health. He founded SIIAM, the Italian Society of Artificial Intelligence in Medicine.
